Elephant Hill Wines are on the Podium with Medal Wins at the International Wine Challenge 2011

19-May-2011

Elephant Hill wines are once again on the podium with medal success at the highly-acclaimed 2011 International Wine Challenge (IWC). Elephant Hill’s Central Otago Pinot Noir 2009 scooped Gold, Elephant Hill Syrah 2009 and Viognier 2010 took home silver medals.  To cap off the competition, bronze medals were awarded to Elephant Hill’s Sauvignon 2010 and Chardonnay 2009.

The 2011 results were announced at the London International Wine Fair which attracts visitors from over 100 countries to taste around 25,000 wines from 36 wine producing countries. The winning wines were tasted by a panel of over 400 experienced judges.

“Now in its 28th year, the IWC’s reputation means that an award-winning wine receives a tremendous boost and this year’s competition sees an even wider variety of superb wines being entered, a 13 percent increase year-on-year,” said Co-Chairman of the IWC, Charles Metcalfe. The IWC medal wins follows trophy and medal wins at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2011 and the Sydney International Wine Competition.

“This is such an extraordinary time, the recognition is definitely a testament to New Zealand’s diverse and rich growing climates and its ability to produce some exceptional wines the world is falling in love with” said Elephant Hill winemaker Steve Skinner.

Elephant Hill is a producer of premium single-estate wines.  Located on the Te Awanga coast, the vineyard enjoys a temperate dry climate and extended growing season.  Our grapes are 100% hand picked and we're proudly 100% accredited by the Sustainable Winegrowers of New Zealand.
