2010 Elephant Hill ChardonnayJust breathe in the aromas of a beautiful balance of toasty oak, stonefruit and citrus and you know it was worth the wait. Concentrated, pure fruit flavours, restrained oak and a lingering finish make for an elegant wine which will keep on developing for months to come – if you can keep it that is! It’s however already excellent drinking right now. Our 2010 Chardonnay typifies the style of Chardonnay we aim to produce from our coastal vineyard. Handpicked fruit of outstanding quality and optimal flavor ripeness was whole-bunch pressed to 228L Burgundian oak, 40% new. No cultured yeast was added; rather an uninoculated fermentation using the yeast strains indigenous to our vineyard was allowed. Following the alcoholic fermentation the wine remained in barrel, on lees, for 11 months. The wine did not undergo malolactic fermentation. The 2010 Chardonnay is intense and concentrated. Aromas of pink grapefruit, citrus blossom and nectarine complement the sharply focused palate of spicy Meyer lemon, green apple and hazelnut. A 10% discount is offered on all case purchases (12 bottles), this saving will be applied once 12+ bottles have been added to the shopping cart.Winemakers Cellaring Recommendation: This elegant and concentrated wine can be enjoyed in its youth but will reward patience and careful cellaring for up to five years.
